Getting to the sun sea and slivovitz. .

Wednesday 2nd May.
Today we were aiming for the coast at Trogir but decided to call in at the Krka National Park at Sibinek. An enterprising cafĂ© in the village allowed free parking provided you at least purchased some drinks from them. The Skradinski buk waer falls on the Krka River are reached by taking a boat from Skradin up the river to just below the falls from where we were able to walk to the top of falls and down the other side. There were walk ways and board walks and bridges to complete the circuit. This was billed as an impressive walk in “nature” and although there are raptors, and other bird life as well as reptiles and amphibians we saw none. There were fish in abundance in the rock pools between the falls. The river has travertine deposits consisting of limestone and plant life. In all a pleasant 3 hours walking around and photographing the river and falls.
After a short drive of 40 miles we arrived at Trogir on the coast approximately 25 miles north west of Split and found another beach side camp site.

Mijet the midget (The queen of the blues) Blue campers?

Saturday 5 th May. We broke camp at Stobrec and headed along the coast road towards Dubrovnik. Wonderful views down over the cliffs to small village harbours and then a wide vale with large river. Here there were citrus and olive groves and fig trees with other horticultural products as well. We bought from a roadside stall tangerines, lemon and figs. They also had a lot of honey for sale, peppers, olive oil and a blue liquor. (not sure what it was made from) We eventually reached the little ferry terminal at Papratna on the Peljasic peninsula. We took the ferry to Sobra on the Island of Mijet. It had now started to rain with thunder and lightning. Our camp site guide only indicated one site on Mijet at Marina Ropa. Having found the place by using co-ordinates it was deserted and no evidence of a marina. A young girl was cleaning the ablution block – unisex and said her Mum was coming. She told us it was no problem to camp, you have electric and hot water all for 120 Kuna (£15)...
